Willow S. Searcy Motorcycle Accident – The Jonesboro community is mourning the loss of Willow S. Searcy, who died in a tragic motorcycle accident on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at the intersection of Flint Street and Nettleton Avenue.
According to the Arkansas Department of Public Safety, the crash occurred around 3:50 p.m. The fatal crash report identified the motorcycle passenger as 20-year-old Willow S. Searcy. She was traveling on a 2024 Kawasaki motorcycle driven by 28-year-old Thomas J. Haney.
Authorities said the motorcycle was traveling east on Nettleton Avenue when it ran a red light at the intersection with Flint Street and collided with a 2023 Chrysler traveling north. Both Haney and Searcy were thrown from the motorcycle and were pronounced dead at the scene.
The Jonesboro Police Department reported that a JPD officer had attempted to make a traffic stop on the motorcycle near the intersection of Nettleton Avenue and Wilmar Circle around 3:53 p.m. According to a Facebook post from the department, the motorcycle failed to stop at a stop sign and did not have tags displayed.
Police stated that the motorcycle operator continued onto Gee Street, traveling through a red light at Gee Street and Nettleton Avenue, nearly striking another vehicle. The pursuing officer terminated the stop at that intersection.
Shortly afterward, dispatch received calls reporting the crash near Flint Street and Nettleton Avenue. After reviewing intersection footage, investigators determined the motorcycle had run the red light before striking the car on the driver’s rear side, according to JPD.
The driver of the Chrysler was not identified in the report. Jonesboro E-911 Dispatch said the intersection was closed to traffic around 4:16 p.m. and reopened at 5:51 p.m.
