Sam Bornhauser Death – Sam Bornhauser, a retired real estate agent from Columbia, Missouri, sadly passed away. His death devastated his friends and family. A Facebook post stating, “Yesterday I lost another cousin Sam Bornhauser,” served as proof of his passing. Sam used to tell me, “I know I’m your favorite cousin,” every time. “Yes, you are, you always have been,” is how I would respond. It is unknown what exactly caused Sam Bornhauser to pass away.
Career of Sam Bornhauser
In 1986, following a successful fifteen years of work in hospital software development and administration, he entered the real estate industry. He continued to serve in sales for fifteen more years, during which time he rose through the ranks to assume leadership positions and eventually owned a medium-sized real estate company in Columbia that was in operation for several years. However, he was unable to get rid of the idea that he should return to his true passion. As a native of Columbia, having attended both Hickman High School and the University of Missouri, he witnessed the city’s explosive growth from a sleepy college town to the thriving metropolis it is today.
He continued to be actively involved in the community in addition to his professional pursuits by coaching young players in baseball, basketball, and football. Furthermore, he was one of the first members and the president of the Hickman Touchdown Club. In addition, he was awarded the title of Jaycee of the Year and won further recognition for his services to other social groups and community organizations.

2009 saw the marriage of Sam and Karen “Kemper” Wingert, who is still alive. Sam Winn Bornhauser, Jr. (Allison), his son, and his stepchildren Jenifer Wingert (Mike Hester) and Jason Wingert (Heather) also survive him. Nine grandchildren: Reid & Ellis Wingert; Callahan & Corrigan Hester; Charlotte and Emersyn Wingert-Hester; Sam Winn III (Trey), Timothy James (TJ), and Kathryn Rae (Katy) Bornhauser. There are numerous nieces, nephews, and relatives along with the four sisters Pam Pugh (Ron), Jane Edwards (Ron), Jone Piontek (Jeff), and Beth Weinsting (Mitch).
