Richard Mathes Death – On Wednesday morning, a 70-year-old man from Grandview Heights was discovered deceased on Interstate 670 East, close to the Grandview exit. Richard Mathes has been identified as the victim. Richard Mathes of Grandview Heights reportedly jumped from a bridge overpass to the freeway below and killed himself.
How did the incident take place?
According to the authorities, Mathes committed suicide not long before an alleged attempted murder of a woman at a home in the 1000 block of Grandview Avenue in Grandview Heights.
Just after 7 a.m., Grandview Heights and Columbus law enforcement officers responded to a distress call. They saw a man scaling the railing on a bridge overpass at I-670 East. Sadly, Mathes jumped off the overpass when the cops arrived.
A woman who had been stabbed numerous times showed up at the Grandview Heights Police Department at the same time as this. She received emergency care from station medics, and after that, she was taken in stable condition to the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, where a full recovery was anticipated.

The woman’s identity was kept a secret by the authorities. Detectives from Grandview Heights police department carefully investigated the Grandview Avenue home as well as the area around Interstate 670. Due to the incident on I-670 East, Columbus and western Franklin County experienced severe traffic disruptions as the interstate was closed for about three hours. The roadway reopened at roughly 10:15 a.m., at which point regular traffic flow resumed.
