
JOHANNESBURG, South Africa – South African police have identified three suspects involved in the fatal shooting of a prominent disc jockey in Johannesburg’s Central Business District on Tuesday.
The victim, known professionally as DJ Warras, was shot and killed outside a venue this afternoon.
What the CCTV Footage Shows
According to investigators, CCTV footage reviewed by police shows a gunman with dreadlocks approaching DJ Warras as he arrived at his vehicle and shooting him. After being shot, the DJ attempted to flee but collapsed at the scene.
Police say DJ Warras was armed at the time of the attack, and nothing was stolen from him, leading investigators to believe the shooting was not a robbery.
Identifying the Suspects
Authorities have identified a second suspect who was seen with the gunman after the shooting, wearing clothing resembling a security uniform. A third suspect is also believed to have played a role in the incident.
Ongoing Investigation
Provincial detectives, intelligence units, and tracking teams are now analyzing the footage and tracing the suspects’ movements to determine where they fled after the attack. The motive remains under investigation.
