On October 27, 2020, Shirley Ann Nelson (née Heitman), 84, of Riverside died away in the company of her devoted family.
The traits that “Grandma Shirley” instilled in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her sincerity, toughness, thoughtfulness, competitiveness, and love. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother who forged exceptional bonds with each member of the family.
When she calls to say “hi!” and bakes delicious cookies and bread, you can tell she has an infinite capacity for kindness. and their participation and passion at all celebrations, life events, and special occasions.
She is an avid sports fan and dog lover, never missing a Bears or Cubs game or an opportunity to impress her Boston Red Sox-loving children with her witty sense of humor.
In addition to her adored sister Marilyn Nesper, Mrs. Nelson’s parents Sophie (née Schabowski) and Steve Hetman also had two young daughters.
She is the physician’s spouse. Nelson, William J. Their 64-year marriage is based on family and faith. Together, Ken (Karen), Bill, Tom (Annie), Jim (Marcy), Rick (Maggie), Lori (Armando), Saltier, and Tee were all lovingly and devotedly raised. (Opheus) Tom.
She also leaves behind 19 grandchildren, including Rylie, Jackson, Logan, and Avery Utz, Gabriella and Julia Pedi, Noah Nelson, and three others, as well as seven great-grandchildren, Paige, Marlea, Hannah, Joe, Eduardo, and Sophia Lopez.
Brothers Steve and Bobbi (Marian) Hetman, sister Teresa (Bob) Terry, brother-in-law Danesper, as well as a large number of her cherished relatives, godchildren, nieces, and nephews, survive Shirley.
On Saturday, November 14 at noon, a private funeral service will be held at the Church of Our Lady in Clarendon Hill, Illinois. The show is exclusively accessible via invitation. On Notre Dame Parish’s public live connection, you are welcome to participate.
