Digital billboard is cheaper – Ezekwesili on removal of ‘All Eyes on Judiciary’ advert

Obiageli Ezekwesili, a former minister of education, has responded to the government’s directive to take down billboards that read “All Eyes on the Judiciary” around the country.

In a statement on her social media page on Wednesday, Ezekwesili argued that the Nigerian judiciary is legally required to provide citizens with complete judicial independence, transparency, and honesty.

According to the DAILY POST, the federal government ordered the removal of the “All Eyes on the Judiciary” billboards from all around the country after claiming that they would incite the public to oppose the court.

The government also disbanded the secretariat of the Advertising Standard Panel (ASP) for approving the “All Eyes on The Judiciary” advertisement.

The advertisement was criticised as being insensitive in a statement released on Tuesday by Dr. Olalekan Fadolepo, Director-General of the Nigerian Advertising Regulatory Council.

Ezekwesili, who posted on social media, asserted that the digital billboard is less expensive than the one that was dismantled and repeated the advertisement numerous times.

“A Digital Billboard is so much less expensive than one that an obviously incompetent regulator demolished,” she added.

So, this is my message to the Nigerian judiciary, which the constitution says owes the public complete judicial independence, transparency, and integrity:
