San Marcos, TX — July 20, 2025 — A tragic shooting near Texas State University has left two people dead and the San Marcos community in shock. Authorities confirmed that 19-year-old Avery Bowman Jr. has been arrested in connection with the double homicide, which occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Deadly Shooting Rocks San Marcos University Neighborhood
The San Marcos Police Department responded to reports of gunfire at approximately 2:30 a.m. in a neighborhood near the Texas State campus, a popular area for student housing.
