Mr. Robert Ingram, also known as Bob, is a General Partner at Hatteras Venture Partners, an early-stage life science venture capital firm. Mr. Ingram was the CEO and Chairman of Glaxo/Wellcome before joining Hatteras. Mr. Ingram was a co-leader in the merger and integration that resulted in GlaxoSmithKline. Mr. Ingram served as Vice Chairman of GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals after reaching the mandatory retirement age of 60, before becoming a strategic advisor to GlaxoSmithKline’s CEO. Mr. Ingram is the CEO of BioCryst Pharmaceuticals, Novan, a dermatology-focused late-stage pharmaceutical company, and Viamet Pharmaceuticals, a privately held company focused on anti-infective drug discovery. He is also the chairman of Cree’s board of directors. Mr. Ingram was awarded the NACD B. Kenneth West Lifetime Achievement Award by the National Association of Corporate Directors in 2013.
Mr. Ingram established and chaired the CEO Cancer Roundtable at the request of President George HW Bush. President George W. Bush appointed him to the National Cancer Advisory Board of the National Institutes of Health in 2006. In 2014, he was awarded the North Carolina Public Service Award, the state’s highest civilian honor. Mr. Ingram is Chairman of the GlaxoSmithKline Foundation and serves on the boards of the Research Triangle Foundation of North Carolina and the Research Triangle Institute.
Mr. Ingram also serves on the Board of Directors of the James B. Hunt Jr. Institute for Educational Leadership and Policy, the Cancer CEO Roundtable, and the Advisory Board of the Congressional Task Force on Biomedical Research and Innovation. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Eastern Illinois University.
