70-year-old Man Arrested For Allegedly Raping Two Minors in Adamawa

Usman Ibrahim, 70, has allegedly raped two minors in Yola-North Local Government Area, according to the Police Command in Adamawa. (LGA).

The Command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, revealed this in a statement on Saturday in Yola.

He stated that the survivors were two children, ages four and seven, who lived on Ajiya Street in Jimeta.

The statement claims that CP Afolabi Babatola, the commissioner of police, ordered a comprehensive and scientific investigation.

A 70-year-old man was detained by the Adamawa state police command on April 4 for raping two youngsters in Jimeta, Yola North local government area.

The two victims are reported to have been drawn into the suspect’s room, where he took advantage of them when they were en route to a lesson class and had illegal carnal knowledge of them.

The father of the victims “reported the incident to the Divisional Police Headquarters, Jimeta, after observing unusual pains from the children while urinating,” he said.

Nguroje added that preliminary inquiry has shown that the suspect, a father of three who is now departing alone after divorcing his wife ten years ago, is a father of three.

Aware of the regrettable situation, the CP expressed concern and gave the officer in charge of the State CID’s Family Support Unit instructions to take over the investigation and ensure thorough prosecution.

He gave the public, especially parents, the advice to keep a close eye on their children and to report any questionable characters to the police in order to protect them from criminal elements that are prowling the streets looking for someone to take advantage of.

He also urged members of the public, particularly parents, to support the Command’s fight against all forms of gender-based violence and pledged to hold offenders accountable in accordance with the law.
